Metamorphosis (Kaolinite Garden)
Porcelain clay is dug from clay pits as kaolin, transformed by potters into flowers, then glazed by a mix of silica and metal oxides. Colour comes from iron oxides, cobalt carbonates, tin oxides and other compounds.
This piece of work is a metamorphosis from earth, natural compounds and human creativity producing a representation of a garden of flowers, picked, gathered and collected from markets and charity shops.
